Bakery Delivery to Al Barsha: Planning a Family Week of Bread

School sandwiches, breakfast toast and one good loaf for the weekend: how an Al Barsha family can plan a week of bread around one delivery from our Silicon Oasis kitchen.

A sliced white toast loaf, a sliced Japanese milk bread loaf and a country sourdough loaf side by side on a plain cream background

Farah has no shop in Al Barsha. We are a single bakery kitchen in Nadd Hessa, Dubai Silicon Oasis, and everything we sell is baked there to order and delivered to your door, in Al Barsha as anywhere else in Dubai. The distance between our kitchen and your street changes nothing about the order: the same four delivery windows, the same 20 AED fee on orders under 150 AED, and free delivery from 150 AED.

This page is for a family with children, in a villa or a family apartment: school sandwiches, breakfast toast and something better for the weekend table, all from one bag. Here is how to plan that week around a single delivery and keep the last slice as good as the first. Al Barsha has both villas and apartment buildings, so the delivery notes near the end cover both.

Count the week in slices, not loaves

Bread is easier to plan in slices than in loaves. A sandwich takes two slices. Two children taking a sandwich to school on five mornings need 20 slices before anyone has had breakfast. Add toast for two adults on those five mornings, two slices each, and the week is already at 40 slices. Then comes the weekend: a slower breakfast, perhaps French toast, and a proper loaf on the table for a family lunch.

How many slices a loaf gives depends on how thick you cut it, so count your first loaf and adjust the next order. Our toast bread guide suggests about 10mm for toast that is crisp through and about 15mm for anything wet on top.

The loaves that do the weekday work

The soft loaves are in our toast and buns collection. They have a thin, soft crust and a fine, even crumb, which is what a lunch box and a toaster need. An open sourdough crumb, lovely at the table, lets butter and fillings fall straight through.

Japanese Milk Bread Loaf, 18 AED: the lunch-box loaf

The Japanese Milk Bread Loaf is the one to reach for when a child is eating the sandwich. It is soft, with a delicate sweetness, and it holds a filling without fighting it. Part of its flour is cooked with liquid into a paste called tangzhong before mixing, which holds extra water in the crumb, so it stays soft for longer than a plain white loaf. Our milk bread guide explains how. For wet fillings such as tomato, cucumber or tuna, butter the cut faces first so the fat keeps the filling off the crumb.

White Toast Bread, 10 AED: toast in quantity

The White Toast Bread is the least expensive loaf we bake and the plainest, which is the point on a busy morning. It is mild enough for children who distrust anything with character, it takes butter or labneh, and its tight crumb keeps melted cheese where you put it in a toasted sandwich. It firms up sooner than the milk bread, so eat it first or freeze it.

Multi-Seed Whole Wheat Toast Bread, 32 AED: the grown-ups' toast

The Multi-Seed Whole Wheat Toast Bread carries seeds through the dough and on the crust, and it stands up to stronger toppings: olive oil and za'atar, avocado, sharp cheese. The seeds on the surface colour before the crumb does, so toast it on a lower setting for a little longer.

One sourdough and one brioche for the weekend

The Country Sourdough Loaf at 25 AED, slow-fermented for over 24 hours, is the one to put on the table for a family lunch. It is at its best on day one, and the acidity from that long fermentation slows staling, so it still slices well for three or four days. From day four, five minutes in a hot oven brings the crust back. If your family prefers seeds or cheese in its bread, the other loaves are in our sourdough collection.

Our Brioche Toast Bread at 35 AED is made with butter and fresh eggs. It is the French toast loaf: slices a day or two old take up custard better than fresh ones, and the butter already in the crumb stops them falling apart in the pan. Toasted plain, it browns quickly, so use a low setting; our brioche guide explains why.

A worked week for an Al Barsha family

Here is one bag for a family of four, at today's prices:

  • two Japanese Milk Bread Loaves for school sandwiches: 36 AED
  • two White Toast Bread loaves for breakfast toast: 20 AED
  • one Multi-Seed Whole Wheat Toast Bread: 32 AED
  • one Country Sourdough Loaf for the weekend table: 25 AED
  • one Brioche Toast Bread for French toast: 35 AED

That comes to 148 AED, two dirhams under the 150 AED mark, so the 20 AED delivery fee applies and the total is 168 AED. Add a Focaccia · Rosemary & Olive Oil at 12 AED for the Saturday lunch table and the bag reaches 160 AED with free delivery: one more bread, and 8 AED less to pay. The threshold counts your bag before any discount code, and the bag shows how far you are from it. If a price has moved since this was written, trust the bag.

A lighter week, with one milk bread, one white toast and the country loaf, comes to 53 AED plus the 20 AED fee.

Keeping a week of bread good in Dubai

A weekly delivery has to last seven days, and in Dubai that only works if the freezer does part of the job from the first day.

Sort the bag on arrival. The sourdough stands cut side down on a board for its first day, then moves into a cloth bag; plastic would soften its crust. The soft loaves go into sealed bags in an air-conditioned room, away from a sunny window and out of the path of an air-conditioning vent. If the kitchen runs warm, freeze sooner, because a sealed bag in a warm room holds the moisture mould needs.

Never the fridge. Bread goes stale as its starch slowly firms, and that happens most quickly just above freezing, which is exactly where a fridge sits.

Freeze in lunch-box portions. Freeze on delivery day, not on day three: white toast you will not eat in a day or two, the milk bread, multi-seed and brioche you will not reach in two or three days, and any part of the sourdough you will not finish by day four. Wrap the slices in pairs, one sandwich's worth at a time, with the air pressed out. A week in the freezer is about the span of a weekly order, and the point at which we would stop expecting a slice to toast like a fresh one.

Use it straight from frozen. Toast slices straight from the freezer on a slightly longer setting. For sandwiches, take the next morning's pairs out the night before and leave them in their wrapping, so any condensation settles on the wrapper rather than the bread.

Mind the lunch bag. Fillings such as chicken, turkey, ham and cheese are perishable and need to stay cold in Dubai heat, so a cool pack in an insulated lunch bag is worth the space.

Getting the delivery to your villa or building

Pin the right gate. Checkout will not take an order without a map pin. A villa may have more than one gate, so drop the pin on the one you want the driver to use rather than the middle of the plot, and put the villa number in the address line, which asks for the street and the building or villa number. In an apartment building, pin the entrance a driver can reach and add the building name and flat number.

Have someone home. As our delivery page says, someone needs to be there to receive the order: bread is fresh food, and we cannot replace items left uncollected or unrefrigerated. Choose a window when someone will be in:

  • tomorrow, 7–10 am
  • tomorrow, 3–6 pm
  • the day after tomorrow, 7–10 am
  • next Saturday, 9 am–12 pm

If nobody is home during the morning school run, tomorrow's 3–6 pm window brings the bread the afternoon before it goes into lunch boxes. If you order once a week, the Saturday morning window suits a family: the sourdough and brioche arrive for the weekend, and the rest goes into the freezer for the week ahead.

Order at least a day ahead. There is no same-day delivery, and the earliest window, tomorrow 7–10 am, may come after the sandwiches have to be made. For a school morning, order two days before it and choose the afternoon window, or keep a few pairs of slices in the freezer as a reserve.

Paying. Payment is through PayPal only, with a PayPal balance or a credit or debit card, and you can check out as a guest. Prices are shown in AED and settled in US dollars, and any delivery fee is shown at checkout before you pay.

Collecting instead. Checkout has no pickup option. Collection from our Nadd Hessa kitchen is possible only by arrangement over WhatsApp, as our Silicon Oasis page explains.

Allergies and school rules. Our kitchen handles wheat, gluten, eggs, dairy, nuts, peanuts, soy, sesame and seeds, and we cannot guarantee that any item is free from traces of them. If your child's school has a nut policy, or anyone at home has an allergy or intolerance, ask us before you order, and do not rely on a product description alone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Farah Bakery have a shop in Al Barsha?

No. We have one kitchen, in Nadd Hessa, Dubai Silicon Oasis, and no shop, branch or counter in Al Barsha. Everything is baked there to order and delivered to your door, with the same delivery windows and the same fee as every other part of Dubai.

How much does bread delivery to Al Barsha cost?

Delivery is a flat 20 AED on orders under 150 AED and free from 150 AED, the same in Al Barsha as everywhere else in the city. The threshold is counted on your bag before any discount code, and both the bag and checkout show how far you are from it.

Can I order today and have bread for tomorrow's school sandwiches?

Not reliably. There is no same-day delivery, and the earliest window is tomorrow between 7 and 10 am, which may be after the sandwiches need making. For school mornings, order two days ahead and choose the afternoon window, or keep pairs of frozen slices in reserve.

What if no one is at the villa when the driver arrives?

Plan for someone to be in. Bread is fresh food, and we cannot replace items left uncollected or unrefrigerated. Choose a window when someone is home, pin the gate you want the driver to use, and put the villa number in the address line so the driver finds the right door.

How do I stop a week's bread going stale before the week is out?

Freeze on delivery day, not later. Keep two or three days' worth of the soft loaves in sealed bags at room temperature, slice and freeze the rest in sandwich pairs, and toast from frozen. Keep bread out of the fridge, where it stales more quickly than on the counter.
