Picnic Food in Dubai: What Travels Well and What Needs a Cool Bag
The cooler months are picnic season in Dubai. This is what we would pack from our shop: the bakes that sit happily on a blanket, the ones that belong in a cool bag, and two worked orders, for four people and for eight.

For picnic food in Dubai from Farah, build the bag around bakes that wait at room temperature: a 12 AED Focaccia · Rosemary & Olive Oil, a 28 AED Multi-Seed Sourdough Loaf to tear by hand, a 35 AED cake loaf to slice on the blanket and a 16 AED Oats & Cranberry Cookie, with sandwiches and parfaits in a cool bag with ice packs. Order online by the day before for a delivery window on the picnic day; delivery is 20 AED below 150 AED and free from 150 AED, with no minimum order. The picnic for four worked out below needs no cool bag and comes to 155 AED, with free delivery.
The cooler months are picnic season in Dubai, and we bake everything to order in our kitchen in Dubai Silicon Oasis for the day it is due. This guide is for food that leaves the house and has no fridge waiting at the other end; for a gathering at home, see small event catering in Dubai.
What picnic food travels well without a fridge?
Bread, focaccia, cake loaves, cookies and granola bars: none of them needs a fridge, so choose the ones whose texture holds outdoors.
- Focaccia. The Focaccia · Rosemary & Olive Oil is best on the day, though the oil in the crumb means it holds better than a lean loaf, and it cuts into fingers for sharing. The Focaccia · Cherry Tomato holds the same way, although its tomatoes keep giving up a little moisture as it sits. Both are 12 AED; our focaccia guide explains the oil.
- A whole loaf to tear. The Multi-Seed Sourdough Loaf at 28 AED has a thick, blistered, chewy crust and is a loaf for tearing at the table. It has three good days on the counter; our seeded sourdough guide covers how it is made.
- Cake loaves. The Marble Cake Loaf and the Classic Lemon Butter Cake Loaf are 35 AED each, slice with a clean edge rather than crumbling, and keep three to four days at room temperature. Marble is the neutral loaf, for a group whose tastes you do not know; the lemon loaf is better on day two.
- Cookies. The Oats & Cranberry Cookie at 16 AED has no chocolate to soften in a warm bag, which makes it the one we would put in a bag that is going to be carried around. The Lotus & White Chocolate Chip Cookie, also 16 AED, wants an airtight container out of direct sun; our cookie guide sorts the rest.
- Granola bars. The Granola Bar at 12 AED is baked to hold together in a bag, and kept wrapped and out of the heat, it waits until later in the day.
- Pretzels, for a short outing. An Authentic Soft Pretzel at 8 AED is finger food, at its best for about four hours.
Which picnic food needs a cool bag?
Every sandwich in our shop, because each has meat or cheese in it, and the parfait. Each goes into the fridge on arrival, and on a picnic a cool bag with ice packs takes over from the fridge.
- Sandwiches that wait. The Ciabatta Turkey & Cheese Sandwich at 12 AED and the Focaccia Smoked Turkey Sandwich at 17 AED hold until lunch on the day they arrive, if kept cold. Ciabatta's thin, chewy crust takes the weight of a bag, and the olive oil in the focaccia slows moisture moving from the filling into the crumb.
- Sandwiches for eating soon. The brioche and white bread sandwiches, 12 AED each, are short-window sandwiches that soften noticeably over an afternoon, even chilled. Choose them only when the picnic starts close to delivery.
- The parfait. The Granola Parfait with Greek Yogurt at 25 AED is for eating soon, because the granola starts taking up moisture from the moment the cup is built: take it only to a short morning picnic, and eat it first.
Pack sandwiches and cups straight from the fridge into the cool bag, keep it shut and in the shade, and never leave it in a parked car. Standard food-safety guidance is no more than two hours out of the fridge in total, or one hour above 32°C; on a picnic, that clock starts when food leaves the cool bag and includes the time on the blanket. Take sandwiches out, still wrapped, ten to fifteen minutes before eating so the crumb relaxes, and throw away anything that has sat out past that limit. Our ciabatta turkey and cheese sandwich guide covers carrying one on a drive, and our sandwich guide explains the bread.
How much picnic food should you order for four or eight people?
Something savoury and something sweet for each person, with at least one whole loaf or cake to share, because a loaf sliced on the spot stretches for a late guest. Two worked orders at today's prices:
A picnic for four, with nothing that needs a cool bag:

- Two Granola Bars: 24 AED
- Two Oats & Cranberry Cookies: 32 AED
- Total: 155 AED, with free delivery.
Leave out the mushroom focaccia and the bag comes to 143 AED, which with the 20 AED fee costs 163 AED, more than the whole order above.

How should you pack bread, cake and cookies for a picnic?
Keep loaves and cakes whole until you arrive, bread in paper, cookies and granola bars sealed, and everything out of the sun.
- Cut on site. Slice a cake loaf as people take it, and tear the sourdough and cut the focaccia on the spot. Sandwiches stay whole and wrapped until served, because cutting early only exposes more crumb. Bring a board and a serrated knife.
- Paper, not plastic, for bread. Focaccia keeps in paper or under a cloth, and a pretzel in paper rather than plastic; sealed plastic turns the multi-seed loaf's crust to leather.
- Cookies and cake airtight. Cookies keep in an airtight container at room temperature, the Lotus one out of direct sun; a cake loaf goes in an airtight tin, with cling film pressed against any cut face.
- Granola bars sealed until eaten. Honey pulls water from the air, so a cut surface left open on a humid day turns tacky. If they travel by car, keep them in the cabin with you or in a cool bag, never in a parked car.
For leftovers, see how to store bread in Dubai; our granola bar guide explains the honey binder.
When should you order picnic food, and how does it reach you?
By the day before, for a delivery window on the picnic day. Checkout offers four windows, each three hours long: tomorrow 7–10 am, tomorrow 3–6 pm, the day after tomorrow 7–10 am, and next Saturday 9 am–12 pm. There is no same-day delivery, and every order is baked for the day it is due.
- Lunchtime or afternoon picnic: the 7–10 am window on the day, so sandwiches reach your fridge before you set off.
- Evening picnic tomorrow: the 3–6 pm window; the order can arrive at any point inside it, so plan around its end.
- Saturday afternoon picnic: next Saturday's 9 am–12 pm window; it can arrive as late as noon, so set off after that.
- Early-morning picnic: a 7–10 am window may arrive after you have left, so order two days ahead for the 3–6 pm window the day before and pack bakes that keep overnight: a cake loaf, the Multi-Seed Sourdough Loaf and the Oats & Cranberry Cookie, whose chew peaks the day after baking. No sandwiches.
The earliest window is preselected, so check which is ticked before you pay. Orders placed after our evening cut-off are scheduled for the next baking day, and checkout shows the date. Someone must be there to receive it: we cannot replace fresh items left uncollected or unrefrigerated, as our delivery page explains. Collection is by arrangement only. There is no pickup option at checkout; collecting from Silicon Oasis has to be arranged with us over WhatsApp first. In Abu Dhabi, the earliest delivery is 2 days after ordering, between 2 pm and 8 pm.
For a company outing you would rather have set up for you, use the Bring Farah to your event form instead of the shop, with the date, guest numbers, venue and any allergies. We reply within one working day and will tell you what is possible.
How do you handle food allergies at a picnic?
Ask your guests first. Our kitchen handles wheat, gluten, eggs, dairy, nuts, peanuts, soy, sesame and seeds, and we cannot guarantee that any item is free from traces of these. If anyone has an allergy or intolerance, tell us before you order and we will tell you honestly whether we can serve them safely.
- Pack the named ones apart. The Granola Bar is made with nuts, and the Multi-Seed Sourdough Loaf carries sesame. Wrap and label them separately; that does not make the rest of the bag safe for an allergy.
- Sandwiches. Every sandwich in our shop contains meat: chicken, turkey or ham. Nothing in our shop is labelled vegetarian or vegan.
