Camping Food from Dubai: The Bakes That Last a Night in the Desert

The cooler months are camping season in the UAE, and a night in the desert has no fridge. This is what we would pack from our shop for an overnight trip: what to eat on the first evening, what lasts until breakfast, and what to leave at home.

A multi-seed sourdough loaf, a glossy bagel scattered with black and white sesame and a sliced lemon butter cake loaf side by side on a plain cream background

For camping food from Dubai, choose bakes that last a night without a fridge: the 28 AED Multi-Seed Sourdough Loaf, which has three good days on the counter, the 25 AED Country Sourdough Loaf, Classic Bagels at 6 AED each, a 35 AED Classic Lemon Butter Cake Loaf and the 16 AED Oats & Cranberry Cookie. Have them delivered to your home the afternoon before you leave, in checkout's tomorrow 3–6 pm window, which means ordering two days before you set off. Delivery is 20 AED below 150 AED and free from 150 AED, with no minimum order; the order for four to six campers worked out below comes to 164 AED with free delivery.

Khaleej Times' guide to camping in the UAE desert puts the camping season at October to March; we checked it on 9 October 2026. We bake everything to order in our kitchen in Dubai Silicon Oasis; this guide follows one overnight trip, from the drive out to breakfast. For a day out, see our picnic food guide.

When should you order camping food for a weekend trip?

Two days before you leave, for the tomorrow 3–6 pm window, so the order is at home the afternoon before you set off. Checkout offers four windows, each three hours long: tomorrow 7–10 am, tomorrow 3–6 pm, the day after tomorrow 7–10 am, and next Saturday 9 am–12 pm. There is no same-day delivery, and every order is baked for the day it is due.

  • Leaving on Thursday evening: order on Tuesday for Wednesday's 3–6 pm window.
  • Leaving on Friday morning: order on Wednesday for Thursday's 3–6 pm window.
  • Leaving on Friday afternoon: the same, or order on Thursday for Friday's 7–10 am window, which arrives the morning you leave and lets you pack sandwiches for the first meal.
  • Leaving on Saturday morning: order on Thursday for Friday's 3–6 pm window. The next Saturday 9 am–12 pm window can arrive as late as noon, so it suits only a Saturday-afternoon start.

The earliest window is preselected, so check which is ticked before you pay. Orders placed after our evening cut-off are scheduled for the next baking day, and checkout shows the date.

Order to your home and drop the map pin on the entrance a driver should use, because someone must be there to receive it: we cannot replace fresh items left uncollected or unrefrigerated, as our delivery page explains. In Abu Dhabi, the earliest delivery is 2 days after ordering, between 2 pm and 8 pm, so order by Wednesday for a Saturday-morning start; see our guide to bread delivery in Abu Dhabi.

What should you eat on the drive out and the first evening?

Mushroom focaccia for the first evening; sandwiches and granola bars only when the order arrived the morning you leave.

  • Focaccia · Mushroom, 12 AED. The olive oil through the crumb means it is genuinely good the next day, so it is the focaccia for an order that arrived the afternoon before. Carry it in paper or under a cloth; see our mushroom focaccia guide.
  • Focaccia · Rosemary & Olive Oil, 12 AED. This one is for the day it arrives, so choose it only when the order comes the morning you leave.
  • Sandwiches, first meal only. Every sandwich we make has meat or cheese in it. The Ciabatta Turkey & Cheese Sandwich at 12 AED holds until lunch if kept cold and is eaten the day it arrives, so from a morning delivery it suits lunch on the drive, in a cool bag with ice packs. With an afternoon-before delivery, leave sandwiches off.
  • Granola Bar, 12 AED, for the drive. Kept wrapped and out of the heat, it waits until later in the day, so it belongs with a morning delivery. Keep it in the cabin with you, never in a parked car, where the binder turns soft and tacky; see our granola bar guide.

Standard food-safety guidance is no more than two hours out of the fridge in total, or one hour above 32°C. Keep the cool bag shut, in the shade and never in a parked car.

Which bakes last the night without a fridge?

The Country and Multi-Seed sourdough loaves, the lemon and marble cake loaves, Classic Bagels and the Oats & Cranberry Cookie, each wrapped the way it asks.

  • Multi-Seed Sourdough Loaf, 28 AED. Three good days on the counter, and a fourth that toasts well. Carry it in a paper bag inside a cloth: paper alone lets it dry, and sealed plastic turns the crust to leather. See our seeded sourdough guide.
  • Country Sourdough Loaf, 25 AED. It slices well for three to four days. Leave it uncovered on a board the evening it arrives, so the crust stays dry, then carry it in a cloth bag; see our country sourdough guide.
  • Classic Bagels, 6 AED each. In paper at room temperature they keep for one to two days, so they reach the first breakfast at camp only when the order arrives the morning you leave; from an afternoon-before delivery that breakfast falls on day three, past their window. See our bagel guide.
  • Classic Lemon Butter Cake Loaf, 35 AED. Kept whole, with cling film pressed against any cut face, it lasts three to four days in an airtight box at room temperature. It is better on day two, as the syrup redistributes, and day two is your first evening at camp; see our lemon cake guide. The Marble Cake Loaf, also 35 AED, keeps the same way in an airtight tin.
  • Oats & Cranberry Cookie, 16 AED. It has no chocolate to soften in a warm bag. Kept airtight at room temperature, its chew arguably peaks the day after baking, and it declines more slowly than most because the oats hold moisture well. See our oat cookie guide.

Pack the bread in paper or cloth, never sealed plastic, then put it with the boxed cake and the sealed cookies inside one closed box, in the shade and out of the sand. On a two-night trip, the second breakfast falls on day four, counting delivery as day one: the edge for the two sourdough loaves and the two cake loaves, and past the bagels and the focaccia. For whatever comes home, see how to store bread in Dubai.

What can you have for breakfast the next morning?

Thick slices of the seeded or country loaf, toasted, bagels with the cut face toasted, and the rest of the cake loaf.

  • Seeded or country toast. Toast thick slices over whatever you cook on. Give the Multi-Seed loaf gentler heat than a plain loaf, because the seeds on the crust are already toasted and colour faster than the crumb.
  • Bagels. Slice through the equator with a long serrated knife, toast the cut face hot, and eat them with labneh and za'atar or cream cheese.
  • Something sweet. The rest of the lemon or marble loaf, still inside its three to four days, or the last Oats & Cranberry Cookie.

Which bakes should you leave at home?

Anything made for the day it arrives; order these for a morning at home.

  • Croissants. The plain Croissant at 14 AED and the chocolate, almond cream and pistachio croissants are for the day they arrive.
  • Sourdough Baguette, 15 AED. Mostly crust, which softens quickly, so eat it the day it arrives.
  • Authentic Soft Pretzel, 8 AED. It is at its best for about four hours.
  • Cookie Croissant, 16 AED. Several hours in, its lid turns soft and tacky while the pastry below goes limp.
  • Granola Parfait with Greek Yogurt, 25 AED. Into the fridge on arrival and eaten soon, because the granola takes up moisture from the moment the cup is built.

How much camping food should you order for four to six people?

Two sourdough loaves, six bagels, two focaccias and a cake loaf, which come to 148 AED; one cookie more takes the bag past the free-delivery line. At today's prices:

  • One Country Sourdough Loaf: 25 AED
  • One Multi-Seed Sourdough Loaf: 28 AED
  • Six Classic Bagels at 6 AED: 36 AED
  • One Classic Lemon Butter Cake Loaf: 35 AED
  • Two Focaccia · Mushroom at 12 AED: 24 AED
  • Subtotal: 148 AED, just under the threshold, so with the 20 AED fee you would pay 168 AED.

Add one Oats & Cranberry Cookie at 16 AED and the bag comes to 164 AED with free delivery, 4 AED less than the smaller order with the fee. A seventh bagel at 6 AED would also cross the line, at 154 AED. We do not sell drinks, so arrange those separately.

How do you handle food allergies on a camping trip?

Ask everyone who is coming before you order.

Our kitchen handles wheat, gluten, eggs, dairy, nuts, peanuts, soy, sesame and seeds, and we cannot guarantee that any item is free from traces of these. If anyone has an allergy or intolerance, tell us before you order and we will tell you honestly whether we can serve them safely.

  • What our descriptions name. The Multi-Seed Sourdough Loaf has sunflower, pumpkin, flax, sesame and millet through the dough and on the crust, the Ciabatta Turkey & Cheese Sandwich has cheese, the lemon and marble cake loaves are made with butter and the Granola Bar with nuts and seeds. Our product descriptions are not full ingredient lists, so packing one item apart does not make the rest of the box safe.
  • Vegetarians. Nothing in our shop is labelled vegetarian or vegan, and every sandwich contains meat: chicken, turkey or ham.
