Bread Prices in Dubai: What a 10, 25 and 32 AED Loaf Pays For

A plain white loaf, a 25 AED sourdough and a 35 AED brioche are different breads, not one bread at three prices. What a loaf costs in Dubai, what our 10 to 35 AED range pays for, and how delivery changes the sum.

A 500 g loaf of fresh white bread in Dubai averages 5.66 AED on Numbeo's Dubai cost-of-living page, in a range of 3 to 12 AED (checked 9 October 2026). Our loaves, baked to order in Dubai Silicon Oasis, run from 10 AED for White Toast Bread to 35 AED for Brioche Toast Bread, with seven sourdough loaves from 14 to 30 AED. Delivery across Dubai is 20 AED below 150 AED and free from 150 AED, with no minimum order.

Those numbers describe different breads, not one bread at different prices, and the sections below show what each step up our price list pays for.

How much is a loaf of bread in Dubai?

A plain 500 g white loaf costs about 5.66 AED on average in Dubai, and the lowest price the UAE's Ministry of Economy and Tourism recorded for a 600 g sliced white loaf in August 2026 was 4.47 AED. These are the two public figures we checked on 9 October 2026:

  • Numbeo, Dubai. "Fresh White Bread (500 g Loaf)": average 5.66 AED, range 3 to 12 AED, on the Numbeo Dubai page, last updated on 9 October 2026.
  • Ministry of Economy and Tourism. Its Essential Goods Prices Platform recorded a lowest price of 4.47 AED for 0.6 kg of sliced white bread in August 2026, across the 13 retail outlets it monitored, in the Ministry's August 2026 price table, published on 17 September 2026 and checked on 9 October 2026.

Both figures are for plain white bread, at two different weights, not for a sourdough, a seeded loaf or a brioche. We do not publish the weights of our loaves, so we cannot give you a fair price per kilo against them.

Bread is also one of nine categories of essential goods whose prices cannot be raised without the Ministry's prior approval, according to its statement of 11 February 2026 (checked 9 October 2026).

What does a loaf cost at Farah Bakery?

Our loaves cost from 10 to 35 AED, and our smaller breads start at 6 AED. These are the live shop prices on 9 October 2026, shown in UAE dirhams and including applicable taxes:

Everything is baked to order for the delivery day.

Our kitchen handles wheat, gluten, eggs, dairy, nuts, peanuts, soy, sesame and seeds, and we cannot guarantee that any item is free from traces of these. If anyone has an allergy or intolerance, tell us before you order and we will tell you honestly whether we can serve them safely.

Why do our loaves range from 10 to 35 AED?

Our loaves range from 10 to 35 AED mostly because of what goes into the dough besides flour and how long each one takes to make. The three loaves in the photo are the 10, 25 and 32 AED ones, and the list runs up the price board:

  • 10 AED, plain on purpose. White Toast Bread is a white sandwich loaf baked in a tin, with a thin, pale gold crust and a fine, even crumb. Our white toast bread guide explains why a soft loaf is harder to bake than a crusty one.
  • 25 AED, time. The Country Sourdough Loaf is raised by a live starter rather than commercial yeast and slow-fermented for over 24 hours, including an overnight rest in the cold. See how the country loaf is made.
  • 30 AED, additions. The Date, Walnut & Honey Sourdough is made with dates, toasted walnuts and a touch of honey; the Chocolate Sourdough Loaf has cocoa worked through the dough and chopped dark chocolate folded in late.
  • 32 AED, seeds and soaking. In the Multi-Seed Whole Wheat Toast Bread, the seed mix and part of the wholemeal are soaked overnight before the loaf goes into a lidded tin. Our multi-seed whole wheat toast guide covers the soak, and our toast bread guide answers why it costs three times the white loaf.
  • 35 AED, enrichment. In the Brioche Toast Bread, eggs and milk replace most of the water, the butter is worked in only after full gluten development, and the dough rests overnight in the cold.

Pastry follows the same logic. A plain Croissant is 14 AED a piece, and it is layered by hand into twenty-seven layers of butter; our croissant guide shows how lamination makes or breaks the bake.

We do not publish a cost breakdown for any loaf; the list shows where the hours, the soaking and the butter go.

Is sourdough always the most expensive bread?

No. Our two highest-priced bread loaves are toast loaves, not sourdoughs: the 32 AED Multi-Seed Whole Wheat Toast Bread and the 35 AED Brioche Toast Bread. Our lowest-priced sourdoughs are the 14 AED Sourdough Ciabatta and the 15 AED Sourdough Baguette.

Our sourdough bread guide does the price arithmetic on fermentation time, with an FAQ on why sourdough costs more than regular bread. But the ferment alone does not set the price. The ciabatta and the baguette are naturally fermented for over 24 hours too, yet they cost less than the brioche, with its butter, eggs and milk, and the multi-seed toast loaf, with its overnight-soaked seeds. Our brioche guide answers in its FAQ why brioche costs more than other bread. When a price surprises you, ask what is in the dough and how long it took, not only whether the label says sourdough.

What does a loaf cost once delivery is added?

Delivery across Dubai adds 20 AED to any bag below 150 AED and is free from 150 AED, so a single 25 AED Country Sourdough Loaf costs 45 AED delivered. There is no minimum order.

Two worked examples at the prices above, checked 9 October 2026:

  • One loaf: a White Toast Bread at 10 AED comes to 30 AED with delivery, and a Country Sourdough Loaf at 25 AED comes to 45 AED.
  • A week's loaves, just under the line: two Country Sourdough Loaves (50 AED), a Multi-Seed Whole Wheat Toast Bread (32 AED), a Brioche Toast Bread (35 AED), a Japanese Milk Bread Loaf (18 AED) and a Sourdough Ciabatta (14 AED) come to 149 AED, so the fee applies and you pay 169 AED. Add Classic Bagels at 6 AED and the bag reaches 155 AED with free delivery, 14 AED less than the first total.

The 150 AED is counted before any discount code, and checkout shows the fee before you pay. One larger order pays less in fees than several small ones: our fresh bread delivery guide plans a seven-loaf week that comes to 151 AED. For a team, our office catering cost guide adds up whole orders.

Checkout offers four windows, each three hours long: tomorrow 7–10 am, tomorrow 3–6 pm, the day after tomorrow 7–10 am, and next Saturday 9 am–12 pm. There is no same-day delivery, and every order is baked for the day it is due. In Abu Dhabi, the earliest delivery is 2 days after ordering, between 2 pm and 8 pm; see bread delivery to Abu Dhabi. Make sure someone is in to receive the order, because we cannot replace fresh items left uncollected or unrefrigerated; our delivery page covers receiving and what happens if a delivery goes wrong.

Payment is on PayPal's page, where a credit or debit card works, usually without a PayPal account; prices are shown in AED and settled in US dollars.

How do you make a loaf go further?

For the three loaves below, slice and freeze whatever you will not eat in the first few days, toast the slices straight from frozen, and keep each loaf out of the fridge, where bread stales faster than on the counter.

  • Country Sourdough Loaf (25 AED): stand it cut side down on a board for the first day, then move it to a cloth bag or bread tin. It slices well for three to four days; slice and freeze whatever you will not reach by day four, and toast it from frozen.
  • White Toast Bread (10 AED): keep it in its bag at room temperature, in an air-conditioned room. Beyond a couple of days, slice it and freeze it, then toast straight from frozen rather than thawing.
  • Japanese Milk Bread Loaf (18 AED): keep it whole in a sealed bag or airtight tin at room temperature. Beyond three days, slice it, wrap it tightly and freeze; the slices toast straight from frozen.

Our guide to storing bread in Dubai goes through each kind of bread we bake, from crusty sourdough to cake loaves.
